  2. September 30, 2021 At a CNN Business "Foreseeable Future" event hosted by Julia Chatterley, an expert panel talks about regulating the industry and the possible risks of doing it incorrectly. The panel consists of three women: Tavonia Evans, Guapcoin Founder Hester Peirce, SEC Commissioner Sydney Schaub, Gemini Chief Legal Officer Note: The full panel discussion was a great 25min webinar event that many in the Guapcoin community attended, but so far, CNN has only posted this 3minute clip below. Watch here: https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2021/09/30/cryptocurrency-experts-regulation-sec.cnn Here's another article that quotes Tavonia from that panel discussion: "We're all for regulation in the space," said Tavonia Evans, who founded the crypto Guapcoin to amplify the economic voice of the Black community. That's why she has been reaching out to regulators to work together on rules that make sense and don't stifle this new industry. https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/30/investing/foreseeable-future-cryptocurrency/index.html
  3. September 23, 2021 Cryptocurrency (or Crypto), a growing digital trend focused on fintech via blockchain, is the future of wealth-building; and Guapcoin is a cryptocurrency for us, by us! Guapcoin, also known as $Guap on the market, was founded in 2016 by longtime engineer and renaissance woman, Ms. Tavonia Evans. Evans is a native New Yorker and “mompreneur” with over twenty years of experience in the technology industry. She is a mother to eight children, and sees her family as her most prized possession, as well as the motivation for embarking on this unprecedented journey. Ms. Tavonia Evans is credited with being the first African-American woman (if not the first black individual) to create a blockchain currency and is building an impressive team and network while doing so with celebrities like Hill Harper, Killer Mike, and pop culture platforms like Complex News. She is on a nonstop mission to inform her community and be “ahead of the curve” in the world of fintech. Read more here: https://view.publitas.com/dallas-weekly/sept-23-21-black-in-tech/page/14-15

August 19, 2021 Mentions Guapcoin Ikechi Nwabuisi, founder & CEO of TRiBL, says cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, are critical to building Black wealth at a time when the usage of the currency is exploding around the world. "Just about everyday someone asks me, 'What does crypto have to do with me?'," said Nwabuisi, who has lined up VISA and crypto firms, Circle Internet Financial & Paxos Brokerage, as his partners. "Let me break it down simply: It has everything to do with you because crypto is here to stay, and is the future of the digital economy. Crypto is the key to building Black wealth." https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/developer-of-pan-african-commerce-app-says-cryptocurrencies-critical-to-building-black-wealth-301359076.html

  6. June 11, 2021 Featuring Angel Johnson The technologist and investor is part of the team behind a Black-run currency, Guapcoin, and is passionate about educating others about crypto's opportunities. Angel Johnson always had the type of fearlessness that would one day make her a bold investor. Growing up in North Philadelphia near Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue, Johnson was taught to be confident by members of her large family. She attributes that to the success she would eventually find in her life, including as a cybersecurity specialist and cryptocurrency leader. “I grew up in a family of love and that influenced my self-confidence growing up in a child,” said Johnson, who later lived in West Oak Lane and Mt. Airy and is now based in D.C. “It makes a difference for a child, especially a girl, when you grow up surrounded by love. I’ve always felt invincible and fearless.” Read more here: https://technical.ly/philly/2021/06/11/angel-johnson-guapcoin-cryptocurrency-investing-black-wealth/

  14. January 26, 2021 Tech Intersect with Tonya Evans Podcast Summary In this episode of Tech Intersect, I connect with Tavonia Evans of the GUAP Foundation and and creator of GUAPCoin. Tavonia Evans is a data scientist, mother of 8, and entrepreneur. After starting her company Safe2Meet, a peer-to-peer identity verification platform, she sought investment in 2015. But over the course of her experience, she learned than less than 1 percent of venture funding goes to Black female founders. This realization, along with her struggle to secure funding, inspired Tavonia to create a product that specifically serves the interests of the Black community. So she started GUAP Coin in 2017 to help the community maintain wealth and encourage participation in the Black economy. But GUAP Coin isn’t just about financial prosperity. Tavonia understood early on how valuable data can be, and the role it can play in eliminating economic disparity. With blockchain and cryptocurrency, GUAP can dispel the myth of the “disappearing dollar” with a wealth of data that demonstrates the potential growth factor not just to coin holders, but to future enterprises and investors in Black businesses. https://www.audible.com/pd/Tech-Intersect-53-Tavonia-Evans-Leveraging-Defi-and-Data-for-Economic-Empowerment-and-Financial-Inclusion-Podcast/B08TGDNDG2

  16. Hey Crypto Misfit! Glad you're here! That "Confirm" square is not actually a button. It's a notice telling you that the transaction has already been confirmed on the blockchain, and the coins are yours. Think of it as a "Transaction Confirmed" notice. Remember, your coins are stored on the blockchain under your wallet address, and all transactions are done on the blockchain. Your mobile wallet just syncs to the blockchain to show you what's there. Here's what I recommend: Go to https://guapexplorer.com/ or to https://guapcoinexplorer.com/ and enter your wallet address in it (starts with GVYU) and it will tell you how many coins you have and show all transactions that have taken place. Let us know if your mobile wallet doesn't show the same balance as what you see when you search online, and let us know if you're using Android or iOS. There might be a syncing issue if the balances are different. Make sure to backup your wallet private keys, always a good practice. Instructions here: Hope that helps!

  18. From the recent Guap Foundation Newsletter: https://www.guaptalk.org/topic/90-newsletter-guap-times-november-2021/ The Rosewood and Tulsa update is designed to deliver the much anticipated Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), which brings onchain governance and voting to the Guapcoin ecosystem. Due to several concerns, the implementation of the DAO was postponed by the Core Devs to allow them to properly mitigate all known issues. The DAO is slated to launch before 2022. In the coming weeks the Guap Core Team will begin to post content and tutorials designed to educate and provide detailed information on the DAO. Below is a summary of what training to expect before the release of the Tulsa and Rosewood update. Training will begin this month (November 2021) via Guapcoin.org, Gitlab, Guaptalk, Guap Academy and all social media channels: 1. The DAO explained, 2. The DAO proposal submission process, and 3. How to vote on proposals for the DAO. Coming in December 2021 (via Guapcoin.org, Gitlab, Guaptalk, Guap Academy and all social media channels), are details on where to download the Tulsa+Rosewood update and how to properly upgrade your masternodes and Guapcoin desktop wallets. The deadline to upgrade your masternode and desktop wallets to the Rosewood+Tulsa update will be 30 days after official release of software on the Github website. Full details about the launch will be released this month. Also, here is a link to more information about the Masternode Owner's vote, the thoughts behind the update, and the new Masternode payout: https://www.guapcoin.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Guapcoin-MN-Owners-Vote-Final.pdf A block happens every 1 minute. So there are about 525,600 blocks per year. MN payouts are roughly every 20-24 hours. NEW REWARD TIMELINE (After the Update) OLD REWARD TIMELINE (Current until Update)
  19. You're so welcome, glad it was helpful and that Tavonia is helping you too. Also, the development team has resolved the MN setup script issues so it should be easier now to setup a self-hosted MN (like through Digital Ocean, Vultr, etc) if ever want to.
  20. Hello and welcome! Here are some tips for you: Don't try to upgrade your wallet yet. You need to work through a few things first. A reminder - your coins are stored on the blockchain in your wallet address; they aren't actually stored in your wallet. The mobile and desktop wallets sync with the blockchain to show you what's stored at your specific wallet address or addresses. In essence, your wallets give you access to the address on the blockchain. It sounds like you sent some coins from your mobile wallet to your desktop wallet and the coins aren't showing up in your desktop wallet, correct? If so, go to https://guapcoinexplorer.com/ or https://guapexplorer.com/ and search for your desktop address that you used, and you should see all transactions going to or from that wallet address. You can do the same for your mobile wallet. Top priority - get the private key from every wallet address you own (mobile and desktop). You need those desktop wallet keys before upgrade, but you want the mobile keys for safety and good practice. Follow the instructions here. https://www.guaptalk.org/forum/56-backup-your-wallet-private-keys/ Let me know when you've confirmed the above or if you have questions or troubles.
  21. Good job learning all you can! Keep up that excitement and momentum, but also go slow and careful moving your Guapcoins around. Here are some quick answers for you: Growyourguap Your coins are stored on growyourguap and it doesn't require a cold wallet. Any coins in your desktop wallet would be separate from growyourguap. I'm gonna tag @admin Tavonia here about your MN 154 and 158 and withdrawing coins because she helps manage growyourguap and it's a project that might be shut down in the near future as developer resources need to be shifted elsewhere to help Guap grow and let the community manage their own masternodes. Setting up your own masternode You'll do this with the coins that are in your desktop wallet, not coins sent to growyourguap. It's two separate things. You'll want to follow the instructions here: https://www.guaptalk.org/topic/50-setting-up-your-own-masternode/ A lot of people have been having trouble setting up the MN via VPS due to troubles with the script, but many have been able to use either the pecuniaplatform talked about in the link above, or ihostmn.com to setup a MN. Hope that helps a bit!
  22. Do this right away, get familiar with it, save those private keys for each wallet address somewhere safe in case your computer crashes, gets lost, etc. In a situation like that, if you don't have those private keys, your coins are lost forever and no one can help you recover that wallet. ALERT: Never share your private keys with anyone else because then they will have permanent access to the coins in the wallet address attached to those keys. Make sure you save the private keys somewhere safe that you trust and will remember (preferably more than one place): in the cloud, on a USB drive, printed paper, lockbox, etc. Backing up your Private Keys - Always do this! Make sure you backup the private key for each wallet address you have in your desktop. Do these steps every time you create a new wallet address you're going to use! Here's how you do that: You have to do this for every wallet address you create. You find the address by going to your desktop wallet, click on Receive on the left, and then click on My Addresses on the right and you should see multiple wallet addresses. Those are your public addresses. Get the private key for each one by doing the steps noted below. Unlock your wallet Go to settings > debug> console Type dumpprivkey followed by your public wallet address, so it looks like this: dumpprivkey GU12345678 In the console window, copy the result line and save it somewhere safe (It's a good practice to copy the wallet address and the private key, store them somewhere together, and note that the private key will start with the number 7). Backing up your Wallet File - A good thing to do! Create an entire wallet backup file by doing this Unlock your wallet Go to settings> Wallet 3) Under the Backup Wallet heading, click on the words "Select Folder" Choose a location to save your wallet backup file, type a name for your file, and click save I actually do both options just to be extra safe. Again, you need to do this every time you create a new wallet address in your desktop wallet!
  23. Do this right away, get familiar with it, save those private keys somewhere safe in case your phone crashes, gets lost, etc. Basic Steps: Go to Settings Click on Show Key Enter Password Click the button to copy the Guapcoin or Bitcoin Key you need and then paste it somewhere to print/store securely It's also a good idea to store the public wallet address along with the private key to keep you organized. Here's a video that Tavonia made showing you how to get your private keys from a mobile Guapcoin wallet:
  24. Hi C.A! Way to make effort to getting a masternode, that's exciting! Just to clarify, did you recently transfer 10,000 coins to growyourguap, and now you're wanting to get them back to your desktop wallet?
