Beginner's Guide to Guapcoin

Ready to get some Guapcoin and join the family? Welcome! We are excited to have you be a part of this global community movement!

Below is a guide to help you on your journey.

Quick summary

Step 1 - Learn about Guapcoin (also called Guap for short)
You'll want to start by understanding the vision and power of Guapcoin, while also learning about cryptocurrency in general.  Thankfully, there are a lot of great resources already built by the community.  Here are some good places to start and come back to.  It's a good idea to read through this whole guide to get a feel for where the journey can take you, and then take action as you're ready.

Step 2 - Get Your Guap Wallet
When you're ready, choose the wallet(s) that work best for you, mobile, desktop, paper.

1. Only download wallets from the official Guapcoin website: https://guapcoin.org/get-guap/
2. Learning to use your Guap wallet is the same as learning a new app or software program.  It takes time and care.
3. Mobile wallets
   1. The mobile links will take you to the official iOS or Android wallet in those app stores, where you can install from there.
4. Desktop wallets
   1. The desktop wallet links will download a zip file to your computer.
   2. Open the zip file by double clicking on it, then copy the setup file and paste it to your desktop, and then run the setup file.  
   3. Alternatively, you can right-click the zip file, choose extract all, then click extract, and then run the setup file from the new folder that gets created after that extraction process.
   4. When you run the setup file, you will be guided through the installation process.
   5. Guap Academy, referenced above, has a video course about learning to use the desktop wallet.
5. Note, if you get multiple wallets (mobile, desktop, multiple desktops, etc), those will all be independent, and won't sync with each other.

Step 3 - Backup Your Guap Wallet Private Keys!!!
This is top priority so you don't lose access to your Guap forever! You worked too hard for it.  It's smart to do this even before getting Guap in your wallet.  Learn this process and make sure you're doing it.

2. Follow the mobile or desktop instructions as applicable.

Step 4 - Buy some Guap
Now that you have a Guap wallet, you're ready to get some Guap!  You currently have two primary options noted below.

IMPORTANT - if you are a beginner with crypto, start slow and careful when buying and sending coins.  Never invest more than you can afford to lose, carefully consider your own risk comfort, and remember that crypto prices are extremely volatile and can rise or fall quickly.  When sending coins, use smaller amounts first, and then when you know you it's working, build up to larger amounts that you feel comfortable with.

1. ProBit online exchange
   • This is an online exchange where you'll need to register with your email address and you can exchange Bitcoin for Guapcoin.

   • Note: this is currently the only online exchange where you can get genuine Guapcoin.
   • Once you purchase Guapcoin on ProBit, you can transfer it to your Guap wallet, where you have control and custody of it (your wallet, your keys). Instructions are here: https://www.guaptalk.org/topic/9-probit-instructions-sending-to-your-guap-wallet/
2. Guap Swap Telegram group
   • This is the official Telegram group where you can buy Guapcoin from trusted community members.
   • Instructions are pinned in the Telegram group.

   • A typical transaction would be you sending payment via CashApp or Venmo and the other person then sending Guapcoin to your wallet address.
   • Make sure you verify the other party is a trusted member by asking in the Telegram group.

Step 5 - Stake your Guap and/or setup a masternode
If you have a desktop wallet, you can stake your coins or setup a masternode.  This is a way to earn additional Guap while providing support and strength to the Guap blockchain network.  Staking requires a minimum of 1,000 Guap, and masternodes require 10,000 Guap per masternode.

Step 6 - Spend Guap at Guap merchants
One of the main goals is for Guapcoin to be a true currency, where the community spends Black and buys Black.

Step 7 - Become a Guap merchant
Own a business or work for a business that would like to accept Guap?

Step 8 - Use your passion and skills to help grow the Guap global family
There are so many ways that you can help this project thrive.  You have so much to offer.  Together, we are the wealth! Here are just a few ideas:

1. Talk about Guapcoin with family, friends, people you meet, anyone, and help them get a Guap wallet!
2. Start paying friends in Guapcoin and keep the Guap flowing in the community.
3. Write a post in the Why Does Guapcoin Matter section here on Guaptalk.
4. Broadcast info about Guap on social media.
5. Connect with Black-owned businesses and invite them to be merchants.
6. Answer people's questions in the Telegram group or here on Guaptalk.
7. Be involved with Guap marketing projects.
8. Join the Guap development Telegram group (listed in the official links post noted above).
9. Contact the Guap Foundation and offer your skills.
10. Donate to the Guap Foundation.
11. Raise funds for the Guap Foundation.
