If you've accumulated some Guapcoin and are now ready to stake, this is the place for you!  It's actually a very simple process that's built in to the Guapcoin desktop wallet. Here's a good post that describes what is happening with staking/masternodes: Staking and Masternodes Explained

Staking Rewards: As of March 7, 2022, they are 5.25 Guap.  This will gradually decrease through the years.  More info here: https://www.guaptalk.org/topic/230-masternode-and-staking-rewards/

Requirements

1. Desktop wallet with at least 1,000 Guap in it.
2. Computer that stays running 24 hours a day without sleeping while that Guapcoin desktop wallet also stays running.
3. It's fine if the desktop wallet runs minimized or in the background.

Basic Steps

1. Open your desktop wallet
2. Make sure your wallet is unlocked for staking.  See the picture below.  It's not recommended to leave your wallet completely unlocked because anyone who opened your wallet could send the coins wherever they wanted, get your private keys, etc.
   1. 
3. Once you've done that, you can minimize your Guap wallet to your taskbar or system tray or leave it open, however you prefer.
4. Leave your wallet and computer running.
5. That's it.  So simple.  Nothing else is needed.

What to Expect

1. Staking rewards are auto-deposited to your wallet from the Blockchain.
2. Frequency of rewards:
   • The more coins you have in a wallet, the more often it will be chosen by the blockchain to provide proof of stake for transactions and thus receive staking rewards.
   • In general, my experience is if you stake 1,000-3,000, you’ll get a reward every 3-5 days or longer, but if you stake above 5,000, you’ll get a reward daily or every other day. It’s random and not guaranteed. It typically takes 1-3 days after staking before the rewards show up.
   • The more Guapcoins you have in a wallet address that's staking, the more regularly and frequently the rewards come.
   • Also, the more transactions that are flowing in the Guap blockchain, the more proof of stake is needed, and the more rewards will start flowing.
3. Each wallet address you have in your desktop wallet can be eligible, so you could stake multiple wallet addresses just by turning on staking in your wallet.

Monitoring your Stake Rewards

1. You will see your stake rewards in your desktop wallet Transactions feed on the home screen, and you can even filter the transactions to Minted if you want to only see your stake rewards.  In my example below, I named my staking wallet "Savings"

2. You can also see your stake rewards on your home screen, to the right of the transaction feed.  You can filter/zoom by days, months, or years.
   • Important - where it says Amount of Guap staked, that's telling you how many total staking rewards you've received for all the wallet addresses in your desktop wallet for the period that you've filtered to and are currently viewing.  So in the picture below, it's showing that all wallet addresses earned a grand total of 90 guap in that 9 day period being viewed.

Step 2 - Get Your Guap Wallet
When you're ready, choose the wallet(s) that work best for you, mobile, desktop, paper.

1. Only download wallets from the official Guapcoin website: https://guapcoin.org/get-guap/
2. Learning to use your Guap wallet is the same as learning a new app or software program.  It takes time and care.
3. Mobile wallets
   1. The mobile links will take you to the official iOS or Android wallet in those app stores, where you can install from there.
4. Desktop wallets
   1. The desktop wallet links will download a zip file to your computer.
   2. Open the zip file by double clicking on it, then copy the setup file and paste it to your desktop, and then run the setup file.  
   3. Alternatively, you can right-click the zip file, choose extract all, then click extract, and then run the setup file from the new folder that gets created after that extraction process.
   4. When you run the setup file, you will be guided through the installation process.
   5. Guap Academy, referenced above, has a video course about learning to use the desktop wallet.
5. Note, if you get multiple wallets (mobile, desktop, multiple desktops, etc), those will all be independent, and won't sync with each other.

Step 3 - Backup Your Guap Wallet Private Keys!!!
This is top priority so you don't lose access to your Guap forever! You worked too hard for it.  It's smart to do this even before getting Guap in your wallet.  Learn this process and make sure you're doing it.

2. Follow the mobile or desktop instructions as applicable.

Step 4 - Buy some Guap
Now that you have a Guap wallet, you're ready to get some Guap!  You currently have two primary options noted below.

IMPORTANT - if you are a beginner with crypto, start slow and careful when buying and sending coins.  Never invest more than you can afford to lose, carefully consider your own risk comfort, and remember that crypto prices are extremely volatile and can rise or fall quickly.  When sending coins, use smaller amounts first, and then when you know you it's working, build up to larger amounts that you feel comfortable with.

1. ProBit online exchange
   • This is an online exchange where you'll need to register with your email address and you can exchange Bitcoin for Guapcoin.

   • Note: this is currently the only online exchange where you can get genuine Guapcoin.

2. Guap Swap Telegram group
   • This is the official Telegram group where you can buy Guapcoin from trusted community members.
   • Instructions are pinned in the Telegram group.

   • A typical transaction would be you sending payment via CashApp or Venmo and the other person then sending Guapcoin to your wallet address.
   • Make sure you verify the other party is a trusted member by asking in the Telegram group.

Step 5 - Stake your Guap and/or setup a masternode
If you have a desktop wallet, you can stake your coins or setup a masternode.  This is a way to earn additional Guap while providing support and strength to the Guap blockchain network.  Staking requires a minimum of 1,000 Guap, and masternodes require 10,000 Guap per masternode.

Awesome, and wow!  That was a lot of work and patience.  Bummer it took that much effort, but so glad that you were able to resolve it and get things working.  That feels good!

I still need to confirm with Tavonia/team if grow your guap is for sure being shut down or if it's just currently delayed with the Rosewood update.  You should be able to login to your account and withdraw your coins to your own wallet address if you want though.

Hi Denala!  Peace and goodness to you!  I think you mean that your mobile wallet isn't receiving rewards from your guap pools or grow your guap masternode right? Tavonia and the development team have worked on that issue and you should see the rewards coming back in as of yesterday. I checked your wallet address above and the rewards restarted.  Have a great day!

Did you get this all fixed, Yolanda?  And if so, can you share your solution since you've been able to troubleshoot issues nicely before.  I'm not a developer, just a community member trying to help when I can, and wanted to check in.

Typically what I do is that once I start the masternode, and it goes active, I leave it alone for at least 4-6 hours, even if it goes missing during that time.  The MN can go to a missing or expired state as it is first syncing with the blockchain and going from active to enabled.  I check on it later that day or the next day to see if it has gone enabled.

Hi Moa, and welcome!  Great work creating a masternode via VPS.  Here are a few things to help you start troubleshooting:

1. Is your desktop wallet and VPS masternode running the latest 2.3.2 versions?
2. Once you start a masternode, it's quite common for it to take a few hours before it changes to Enabled, and there are times where it will go to Missing or Expired on its way to Enabled.  It's a good idea to wait 4-6 hours after it goes Active and then check on the status.
3. Once a Masternode is Enabled, it will take 2-3 days before rewards start coming in.

Just wanted to give an update. I was able to get my Masternodes working. Apparently, the update that I was using on my VPS was also loading part of the script that I was loading from the update instructions (gitlab). Which means that I was trying to load it twice. This caused a ton of issues that I am not versed enough to articulate. I did get 20.04 done on Saturday and I appreciate all your help. They all show "enabled" and I can monitor them on the MN monitoring. I haven't received any tokens yet but I will ask this in another section of this website. Thanks guys.

Wow, nice job figuring that out and persevering and getting them all done!  Impressive, you did some heavy duty work.  So glad they're up and running for you again.  I responded to your other question too. Give them 2-3 days from Enabled status and the rewards should come in.
